Permanent exhibition since June 1994 offers the House of History with its permanent exhibition an overview of German history from 1945 to today. On 4000 square meters and five exhibition levels you will find more than 6000 objects and documents.

Concept

Since the initiative and from the beginning of the considerations of the experts, it was clear that not only West German history could be presented in the House of History. The perspective view into the GDR was already planned before the events of the year 1989. Of course, the conception of the house with the fall of the wall, with the accession of the GDR and the unification of Germany was substantially expanded. Today, all-German and GDR subjects occupy about 40 percent of the space of the permanent exhibition.
